No, AskCodex is designed to assist and augment the abilities of DMs, not replace them. It provides tools and resources to make the DM’s job easier and more streamlined.

In the mystical world of AskCodex, ’energy cores’ are the magical essence that powers CODEX, our generative AI, allowing them to craft tales, answer queries, and provide advice. In practical terms, think of each energy core as a unit of measure representing how much you can interact with CODEX. Just as a wizard uses mana to cast spells, CODEX requires energy cores to perform their tasks. Each interaction consumes a certain number of cores, depending on its complexity. For reference if CODEX would write the “Dungeon Master Guide” word for word, it would take them 200,000 energy cores.

Cores reset every 30 days from the day of purchase. Unused cores do not roll over to the next month. If you run out of cores during the month, you can always upgrade to the next level plan.

AskCodex has a general understanding of the rules for most popular game systems, but sometimes they’re not going to be perfect. Even the best rules lawyer will get things wrong sometimes. Therefore, AskCodex is not meant to replace your game’s rules and resources completely. We recomend using CODEX to get a quick rule clarification in the moment to keep the game moving forward. Then you can double check CODEX’s accuracy when the session is done.

We use OpenAI’s model to drive CODEX. Therefore CODEX is as up to date as OpenAI’s model. As of writting this, OpenAI last updated their model on June 13, 2024. We have some features that are game system specific thoug that are currently only available for for D&D 5e and Pathfinder 2e at the moment. But we are working to add the following game systems in the future.
